MOSCOW/TBILISI, February 8 (RIA Novosti) - Ten trucks carrying Georgian soldiers have arrived at a village in the zone of the conflict between Georgia and its autonomous republic of South Ossetia, an official from the republic said Wednesday.

Irina Gagloyeva, the head of the South Ossetian information and press committee, said: "Ten Kamaz trucks with approximately 250 Georgian soldiers have now arrived at Eredvi village. They have stopped in the village and their further intentions are not clear."

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Vyacheslav Sedov confirmed the information and said that in sending 250 soldiers to the so-called security zone, Georgia had violated agreements signed in 1992.

"They [the soldiers] arrived after the arrest of three Russian officers," Sedov said.

Georgian Minister for Separatist Conflicts Georgy Khaindrava has denied the presence of Georgian soldiers in Eredvi.

"This is disinformation," Khaindrava said. "There are no Georgian forces in this area. All Georgian peacekeepers, who in accordance with the mandate are supposed to be present in the conflict zone, are remaining at their bases."
