The Moskva and the Azov amphibious assault ship sailed to the Italian port city of Messina to participate in NATO's anti-terrorism Operation Active Endeavor.
The Moskva, commissioned in 1979, carries missiles and artillery and anti-submarine equipment, including its main attack system of cruise missiles and a medium-range missile system.
