MOSCOW, February 10 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said a shortage in the country's electric power supplies should be prevented, the industry and energy minister said Friday.
"The president assigned us this task - to prevent any shortage of power for the Russian economy - and the government has been faced with a number of issues that have to be fully settled soon," Viktor Khristenko said after a conference on the power industry.
The minister said additional investment could be attracted to the power industry.
Khristenko added that the president had urged the government to avoid shifting the burden onto the population by raising electric energy tariffs.
