MOSCOW, February 26 (RIA Novosti) - A delegation from the lower house of the Russian parliament, the State Duma, leaves Sunday for Iran to discuss bilateral cooperation in nuclear sector with Iranian parliament members.

Yury Volkov, the State Duma vice speaker and the head of the Russian delegation, said Moscow's proposal to establish a joint center for uranium enrichment in Russia was the last chance to save Iran from international sanctions amid the long-standing controversies over the country's nuclear program.

He said the delegation would discuss with its Iranian counterparts 'three transparencies'. They will focus on the issue of control over construction of nuclear facilities in Iran, production of nuclear fuel for Iranian nuclear power plants and the issue concerning research works on nuclear fuel components in Iranian laboratories.

Volkov said the key issue in the cooperation between the two countries was the construction of the nuclear power plant in Bushehr.

"We have no claims currently to the construction of the nuclear power plant," Volkov said.

About 3,700 Russian experts are currently helping to build the $800-million plant, originally started in the early 1980s by German specialists, in the port city of Bushehr in southern Iran in accordance with a 1992 agreement between the two countries.
