MOSCOW, February 28 (RIA Novosti) - Double-decker buses, a familiar sight for residents of the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and Berlin, will appear for the first time in Russia's capital during 2006, a deputy Moscow mayor said Tuesday.
Pyotr Aksenov told journalists: "There is a proposal for Moscow to buy [German] Neoplan double-decker buses and use them on the city's public transport routes. They are shorter than ordinary jointed [Hungarian] Ikarus buses, but carry more people due to the second deck."
However, Aksenov said 99% of all public transport vehicles bought by Moscow were of Russian manufacture.
