MOSCOW, February 28 (RIA Novosti) - The minister of transportation and the vice president of Russian railroad monopoly Russian Railways (RZD) agreed Tuesday to lift the recently imposed restrictions on the movement of foreign and private freight on public railroads.
The two officials met to address the problems that have arisen because of the restrictions. Since February 15, approximately a thousand foreign railroad wagons and freight containers were stopped in Russia because they did not have the required customs documentation for domestic cargo shipment.
Minister Igor Levitin and the RZD vice president agreed to lift the restrictions and ordered the Ministry of Transportation and the Federal Rail Transportation Agency to prepare draft regulatory norms for the transit of foreign and private railroad cargo.
