* Russia's national soccer team will play a friendly with World Cup holders Brazil at Moscow's Lokomotiv stadium at 4 p.m. GMT

* Russian basketball team Dynamo Moscow edged Crvena Zvezda Belgrade from Serbia and Montenegro in the first-leg away match of the ULEB Cup two-way quarterfinal series, 87-86.

* Russian basketball team Lokomotiv Rostov failed to advance to the Final Four of the FIBA EuroCup tournament, losing Game 2 away of the best-of-three quarterfinals to Spain's DKV Joventut, 57-86. Last week Lokomotiv was beaten by Joventut in the home match, 54-88. Dynamo St. Petersburg, defending EuroCup champions, advanced to the Final Four by defeating Maroussi Athens in both away and home matches, whereas another Russian team in the competition, Khimki Moscow, will seek a berth in the Final Four in Game 3 at home against Belgium's Dexia Mons-Hainaut on Wednesday

* Men's volleyball team Dynamo Moscow defeated France's Tours VB in the first-leg home match of the European Champions League two-way quarterfinal series, 3-0 (25:22, 25:17, 27:25). The away match is set for March 9. Russian champions Lokomotiv Belgorod will play its first-leg home match of the tournament against Italy's Emu Rpa Perugia on March 2

* Women's volleyball team Dynamo Moscow, the defending Russia's champions defeated arch rivals Dynamo from the Moscow Region away, 3-1 (26:24, 25:19, 22:25, 25:22), thus increasing the gap between the teams to five points

* Russian tennis star and former world No.1 Marat Safin, who had marked his return to the ATP tour after a long knee injury by defeating world No.5 and compatriot Nikolai Davidenko yesterday at a $1-million tournament in Dubai, failed to advance beyond the second round, losing to world No. 31 Olivier Rochus from Belgium in two sets, 6:7, 4:6

* Russian tennis player Mikhail Yuzhny defeated compatriot Igor Andreyev 6:1, 7:6 to make it to the quarterfinals of the $1-million tournament in Dubai. Yuzhny will take on Belgium's Olivier Rochus, who beat Marat Safin in the second round

* Russian tennis player Dmitry Tursunov lost his first-round match in the men's singles draw at the Las Vegas tournament in the United States to Australian Peter Luczak, 6:7, 4:6

* Yaroslavl Lokomotiv beat Omsk Avangard 5:2 in the national hockey super league. Lokomotiv is now in second place with 92 points
