MOSCOW, March 5 (RIA Novosti) - President of Russia Vladimir Putin discussed over the phone with Interim Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert the prospects of the Middle East situation after the talks with a delegation of the Hamas militant group in Moscow, the Kremlin press office said Sunday.
The talk was held at the initiative of the Russian side, the press office said. The parties held a detailed exchange of opinions on the prospects of the development of the situation in the Middle East in the light of the negotiations in Moscow with the leaders of the Palestinian movement Hamas, also with Iran's representatives on the Iran nuclear file, the press office said.
Putin and Olmert also discussed the topical issues of Russian-Israeli cooperation. Both sides confirmed their commitment to further develop friendly and constructive relations between Russia and Israel, the press office said.
