PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, March 11 (RIA Novosti, Oksana Guseva) - A Russian fishing trawler sank in the Sea of Okhotsk, off the Kamchatka Peninsula Saturday, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
All those on board the Diamant trawler, including 44 crew, an observer from the State Maritime Inspectorate, and a Japanese citizen, were hoisted to safety by the Granit and the Artik-Lider trawlers that were in the area.
The trawler, which was fishing walleye pollack in the Sea of Okhotsk, sank within about 15 minutes.
The sinking is believed to have been caused by a hull breach.
