NOVOSIBIRSK, March 12 (RIA Novosti, Maksim Koshmarchuk) - Voter turnout at Sunday's elections for the legislature of the Republic of Altai in Russia's central Siberia has passed the required threshold, the local electoral commission said.
As of 14:00 p.m. local time (08:00 a.m. GMT), more than 36% of registered voters had come to the polls, crossing the electoral threshold of 25%, the commission said.
No serious violations have been registered, the commission said.
The polling stations will close at 20:00 p.m. local time (14:00 p.m. GMT), the commission said.
Residents of the Republic of Altai are electing 41 deputies to the State Assembly of the fourth convocation: 20 deputies in single-seat constituencies and 21 deputies from party lists. The political parties have to clear the 5% barrier to win seats in the republican legislature.
