NIZHNY NOVGOROD, March 12 (RIA Novosti - Volga Area, Olga Novozhenova) - Voter turnout at Sunday's elections for the legislative assembly of the Orenburg Region in Russia's Volga Area has passed the required threshold, the local electoral commission said.
As of 16:00 p.m. local time (11:00 a.m. GMT), 29.28% of registered voters had come to the polling stations, crossing the electoral threshold of 25%, the commission said.
Elections are proceeding in a calm atmosphere and no serious violations have been registered, the commission said.
Orenburg Region residents are electing 47 deputies to the regional legislature: 23 deputies in single-seat constituencies and 24 deputies from party lists.
