MOSCOW, March 15 (RIA Novosti) - Unified Energy System is planning to triple investment in the electric power industry in the next three years, the head of Russia's electricity monopoly said Wednesday.
Anatoly Chubais said, "Our priority for the next three years is to triple investment in the electric power industry. Our long-term goal is to double electricity output from 1 trillion kWh to 2 trillion kWh [per year] by 2025."
According to Chubais, Unified Energy System [RTS ticker: EESR] will need about 289 bln rubles ($10.14 billion) from the state budget alone to continue with power sector reforms.
He also said UES must adopt a program by the end of the year for the development of the electric power industry until 2025.
