MOSCOW, March 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and Britain will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on joint conservation efforts Wednesday, an official said.
"Relations between Russia and Great Britain on environmental protection are not actually stipulated by any pro forma document, with the last Soviet-era intergovernmental agreement signed in 1974," said deputy natural resources minister Valentin Stepankov, who will sign the document with U.K. Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
Stepankov, currently on a trip to the U.K., highlighted Russian-British cooperation on conservation, saying that joint efforts had been taken despite the lack of a formal agreement.
"Russia and Great Britain have been developing cooperation on the regional level," he said.
