Even though SOFEX (Special Operations Forces Exhibition) focuses on weapons and equipment related to special operations, Russia also plans to demonstrate other types of weaponry at the expo.
"We will also display helicopters, armored vehicles, air defense systems, jet-propelled salvo systems, and the latest naval weaponry," the Federal Service for Military and Technological Cooperation said, adding that state-controlled arms exporter Rosoboronexport was organizing the Russian exhibit.
The agency said the event would be of special interest to security services and anti-terrorism and law enforcement bodies.
A major defense exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa, SOFEX is important for Russia, which has long-established partners in the region, as a producer of arms to Algeria, Syria, Jordan, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates.
