MOSCOW, March 27 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday it was finalizing the technical details of sending military contingent to the UN Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) comprising a helicopter group and up to 200 servicemen.
"We are now coordinating practical aspects of contributing an armed contingent to the UNMIS: four Mi 8-MT (MTB) helicopters and up to 200 servicemen," a ministry news release said.
On March 24, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1663 extending the UNMIS mandate in the troubled North African country until September 24, 2006.
