MOSCOW, March 27 (RIA Novosti) - Unemployment in February fell to 7.7% or 5.7 million people, the economics ministry said Monday.
The figure represents a drop of 5.5%, or 329,000 people, on February 2005.
The number of officially registered unemployed people was down in February by 113,000 against February 2005, totaling 1.9 million people or 2.6% of economically active population.
Russia's state statistics service said that 73.9 million people, or 51% of Russians, are economically active, and are mainly employed in large and medium-size enterprises.
