WARSAW, March 27 (RIA Novosti) - Polish writer Stanislaw Lem has died aged 84, his assistant said Monday.
Lem died at a cardio-surgery clinic in the southern Polish city of Krakow.
Lem wrote a number of science fiction books including Solaris - later filmed by Andrei Tarkovsky and then Steven Soderbergh - Man from Mars, and The Trial of Pilot Pirks.
His books were translated into 41 languages, selling over 27 million copies.
