The ministry said Alexander Saltanov had met with Mahmoud Abbas in Khartoum after a summit of the Arab League.
The ministry said the Abbas had praised Russia's efforts to promote the conflict resolution while Saltanov had promised that Russia would continue dialogue with all sides involved in the peace process.
The sides also agreed to boost bilateral consultations given the new realities in the Middle East, including the victory of the radical Islamic movement Hamas in Palestine's parliamentary elections in January.
The Israeli-Palestinian peace process has stalled since Hamas came to power. Russia has been trying to persuade Hamas to meet previous Palestinian leaders' agreements with Israel and resume the political process under the Road Map peace plan.
