MADRID, March 31 (RIA Novosti) - Russian soccer fans detained in a brawl before an UEFA Cup quarterfinal encounter in southern Spanish city of Seville will be tried in a local court on April 1, a Russian diplomat in the country said Friday.
Russian Consul in Spain Dmitry Verchenko said the court was likely to only impose a fine on the Russians, in view of the local team's return match in St. Petersburg on April 6.
In the quarterfinal match, Zenit St. Petersburg was trounced 1:4 by Spanish Sevilla.
The diplomat said that the president of the Russian club would arrive in Spain Friday to attend court hearings.
