MOSCOW, April 1 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday conscripts would only do their compulsory military service in regular army units and not be sent to conflict areas.
"The directive by the country's leadership will be followed undeviatingly, and draftees will only serve in regular troops, not in trouble spots," Deputy Defense Minister Gen. Nikolai Pankov said. "Only contract servicemen will be sent to these areas."
