KIEV, April 5 (RIA Novosti, Vladimir Suprun) - Power supplies to more than half of Ukraine's Air Force units on combat duty were disrupted Wednesday over an unpaid bill, the country's defense ministry said.
"Today, electricity supplies were disrupted to 18 units, 11 of them on combat duty," the ministry's press service quoted Ukrainian Air Force Commander Anatoliy Toropchin as saying.
Toropchin said diesel generators were being used to provide power to command posts, air defense units and airports.
The commander accused power industry workers of ignoring a Cabinet resolution that allowed the military to pay off their electricity debt within three months.
