MOSCOW, April 6 (RIA Novosti) - A Moscow court rejected Thursday an appeal lodged by lawyers acting for Mikhail Khodorkovsky against his transfer to a Siberian prison, a RIA correspondent reports from the courtroom.
Lawyer Yury Schmidt said he would appeal against the ruling in a higher court after discussing it with the ex-Yukos CEO, who is currently serving an eight-year prison term for tax evasion and fraud in a penal colony in the town of Krasnokamensk in the Chita Region, about 3,000 miles east of Moscow.
Khodorkovsky and his business partner Platon Lebedev were found guilty by a Moscow court in May 2005 and sentenced to nine years in prison. On September 22, the Moscow City Court reduced their terms to eight years.
