MOSCOW, April 12 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow City Court upheld Wednesday a 14-year sentence against Alexei Kurtsin, a former manager of embattled oil giant Yukos convicted of money laundering.
But the court reduced prison sentences for three other defendants in the Yukos-Moskva case. Terms for Sergei Baldykov and Nikolai Yumin were reduced from six to four years, and Dmitry Shlensky's sentence was cut from 11 to five years.
Defense lawyers earlier requested that a guilty verdict be quashed and the case closed, saying their clients had committed no crime.
On November 28, 2005, Moscow's Lefortovo court handed down a guilty verdict against all nine defendants involved in the case. Investigators said Kurtsin and wanted Yukos-Moscow Senior Vice President Mikhail Trushin laundered about $412 million via fraudulent charity funds, mainly in central Russia.
