VimpelCom Vice President Nikolai Pryanishnikov said $1.2 bln would be invested in developing the company's network in Russia, $150 mln in Kazakhstan, and $250 mln in other countries where it has operations.
In 2005, the company spent about $1.64 bln on acquisition of property and equipment.
VimpelCom CEO Alexander Izosimov said the company would continue buying assets in the Commonwealth of Independent States, a loose alliance of former Soviet countries.
"I believe that in 2006, we will expand our geographic presence," he said.
VimpelCom is best known for the Beeline trademark in Russia and Kazakhstan, and also has newly acquired operations in Ukraine, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Norwegian company Telenor, and Altimo, the telecom arm of Russia's Alfa Group, are both core shareholders.
