BISHKEK, April 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's top nuclear-energy official will meet with senior Kyrgyz politicians and officials Thursday for talks expected to focus on bilateral cooperation in the nuclear industry, a Kyrgyz government spokesman said.

Federal Atomic Energy Agency head Sergei Kiriyenko will hold scheduled meetings with President Kurmanbek Bakiyev and Prime Minister Felix Kulov and attend a session of the intergovernmental commission for economic, trade and technological cooperation, the spokesman said.

Kiriyenko said following preliminary talks with Kulov ahead of the commission meeting that Russian trade with Kyrgyzstan had grown 40% year on year in the first three months of 2006, and that trade turnover in 2005 stood at $524.7 million, up 30% on the previous year.

He said he expected trade turnover to hit the $1-billion mark in the next few years, and that the sides will examine ways to boost bilateral trade further.

Joint investment projects will also be high on Kiriyenko's agenda, including construction of an international tourism and exhibition center on Lake Issykul in the Central Asian republic.

A large delegation of government officials and corporate executives is accompanying Kiriyenko on his trip.
