MOSCOW, May 1 (RIA Novosti) - The government is raising wages in the budget-dependent sector by 15% from May 1.
"Public sector wages will be raised by 15% on May 1 and by 11% on October 1," Health and Social Development Minister Mikhail Zurabov said earlier at a government meeting.
He added that the minimum pay, currently at 800 rubles (about $29), would be raised to 1,100 rubles (about $40) also from May 1.
Maxim Topilin, the head of the Federal Service for Labor and Employment, earlier said that only 17 regions had made a decision to raise the minimum pay for public sector workers to 1,100 rubles from May 1.
