MOSCOW, May 11 (RIA Novosti) - Georgia's Foreign Minister confirmed Thursday Japanese media reports that two Japanese tourists had been attacked and robbed in the capital of the Caucasian country.
"Information about the incident was received from the Interior Ministry on May 10," Gela Bezhuashvili said, adding that one of the men was still in the hospital.
Assailants reportedly stabbed one tourist in the stomach and the other in the hand "with a thing like a knife," and robbed them of their passports, air tickets, and cash.
Bezhuashvili said the ministry was in contact with the Japanese embassy regarding the incident.
