NUSA DUA (Indonesia), May 13 (RIA Novosti, Mikhail Tsyganov) - Iran is ready to resume negotiations with Russia on its nuclear program, Iran's foreign minister said Saturday.
"We are ready to continue negotiations with our Russian friends on their proposals," Manuchehr Mottaki said in an interview with RIA Novosti, adding that "in principle Iran supports any initiatives that contain two key elements."
"First, they should recognize Iran's right to peaceful development of nuclear technology," he said. "Second, we consider it necessary to strengthen the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty."
The Iranian foreign minister is attending a summit of D-8 group of developing countries in Bali. In addition to Iran, this international organization, established in 1997, includes Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
