KALININGRAD, May 13 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian defense minister Saturday presented a new Baltic Fleet commander.
Addressing a meeting of senior Fleet command personnel, Sergei Ivanov said he hoped the new Fleet commander, Vice Admiral Konstantin Sidenko, would continue the work to strengthen and develop the fleet that "is tasked with defending state interests in the western sector."
Kontantin Sidenko, 53, formerly first deputy chief of staff of the Pacific Fleet, replaces Vladimir Valuyev who retired earlier.
