KIEV, May 20 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine and Australia have signed an important deal under bilateral negotiations on the former Soviet republic's accession to the WTO, the Ukrainian economics ministry said Saturday.
The agreement - on opening up the Ukrainian economy to foreign firms - brings Ukraine's accession to the world's largest trade body closer, the ministry said, and is the result of long bilateral negotiations between the countries.
Ukraine's foreign minister said last month the country intends to join the World Trade Organization in fall 2006.
The former Soviet republic still has to complete bilateral accession negotiations with Egypt, Colombia, and Kyrgyzstan.
