ST. PETERSBURG, May 24 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Prosecutor General's office has demanded that a deputy head of the Nenets Autonomous Region in northwest Siberia be dismissed from his post, prosecutors said Wednesday.
The statement said that Igor Zoloyev had violated Russian laws, which prohibit a state official from conducting business activities.
"Holding the post of the Nenets Autonomous Region deputy administration head he [Zoloyev] continued to conduct business, and in February 2006 headed a board of directors in a commercial company," the statement said.
The Prosecutor General's office also detained Tuesday the governor of the mineral-rich Nenets Autonomous Region, Alexei Barinov, on suspicion of fraud.
