SOCHI, May 25 (RIA Novosti) - Russia wants to be treated as an equal partner in the energy sphere by Europe, President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
"If our partners expect us ... to build liberal policy on access to infrastructure, production and transportation, we wonder what we will receive in exchange," Putin said at a Russia-EU summit in Sochi, a resort on Russia's Black Sea coast.
He said that, if Europe did not give Russia access to its deposits and pipelines, the sides should find a compromise and observe each other's interests.
