"The explosion occurred about 20.15 Moscow time [16.15 GMT]," the source said. "The injured have been hospitalized with serious wounds."
But the Moscow branch of the emergencies ministry said two people received light injuries when a Toyota Land Cruiser exploded near the market.
"The latest reports indicate that a bomb exploded when the director of an organization that owns the market and his driver were approaching the car," a police source said. "The investigation believes that the blast was planned to threaten the businessman."
The police said a preliminary investigation had established that the bomb's explosive power was equivalent to 200 grams of TNT.
A team of investigators is working at the site of the incident.
