MOSCOW, May 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice discussed the long-running crisis around Iran's controversial nuclear program in a telephone conversation Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"There was a continued discussion of the situation around Iran's nuclear program in the light of upcoming multilateral contacts on the issue," the ministry said.
Tuesday's discussion was a follow-up to a phone conversation between Lavrov and Rice this past Sunday. The two ministers have stepped up consultations on the Iran issue ahead of a June 1 meeting in Vienna with their counterparts from China, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
