MOSCOW, May 31 (RIA Novosti) - An initiative group of housing investors who lost their money in residential blocks that were never built will meet with Russia's regional development minister Thursday, the head of the group said.
"We have been waiting for this meeting [with Vladimir Yakovlev] and hope it will help resolve the situation," Anton Belyakov said.
The Russian government's press service confirmed that the meeting would take place.
Deceived investors were repeatedly taking to the Moscow streets during the last few weeks to protest against the allegedly fraudulent construction firms.
One real estate investment firm, Sotsialnaya Initsiativa, stands accused of defrauding up to 2,500 apartment buyers by collecting over 100 million rubles (about $3 million) for apartments that were never built.
The Moscow Region's government promised May 19 to settle all issues with deceived investors by June.
