MOSCOW, June 2 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Navy should acquire five new strategic submarines in the next 10 years, a senior government official said Friday.
Vladislav Putilin, first deputy chairman of the government's commission for military industry, also said under the state weapons program for 2007-2015, the Navy would receive dozens of new vessels.
Vladimir Putin said in his May 10 state of the nation speech that two strategic submarines would be commissioned this year.
But Putilin said no carriers would be built before 2015.
