ROSTOV-ON-DON, June 2 (RIA Novosti) - A soldier of the Interior Ministry troops in southern Russia has died after allegedly being beaten by a private, military prosecutors said Friday.
In what appears to be the latest hazing incident to hit Russia, military prosecutors in the Stavropol Territory said "Private S." had demanded money from Georgy Griva to buy shoes.
"When Griva refused to give the money, the suspect beat him, and he later died of his injuries," prosecutors said.
Hazing incidents have become a high-profile issue in the Armed Forces. In one of the most horrific attacks, Private Andrei Sychev had to have both of his legs and genitals amputated after allegedly being tortured during the New Year's Eve holidays in the Ural city of Chelyabinsk.
