MOSCOW, June 3 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian embassy in Baghdad confirmed media reports Saturday that one of its officials had been killed and four abducted in the Iraqi capital.
"A group of unidentified gunmen attacked the [Russian] embassy's vehicle at 1:45 p.m. Moscow time [9:45 a.m. GMT] in Baghdad's eastern Mansour district," embassy spokesman Igor Markov told RIA Novosti on the phone.
Markov said one embassy employee had been killed and four kidnapped, but did not specify whether these people were diplomats.
Earlier, the reports were confirmed by Russian Consul Alexander Potapov.
