MOSCOW, June 6 (RIA Novosti) - Russian energy giant Gazprom and Netherlands-based Gasunie agreed Tuesday to sign a memorandum of understanding within a month, the companies said in a joint news release.
The memorandum will pave the way for cooperation in the North European Gas Pipeline project, which will see Russian gas pumped directly to western Europe through a pipeline across the floor of the Baltic Sea, and the Balgzand Bacton Line linking the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
The companies said on the sidelines of the 23rd World Gas Conference in Amsterdam that they were also set to consider other options of access to gas infrastructure to ensure extra supplies of Russian gas to northwestern Europe.
