MOSCOW, June 12 (RIA Novosti) - A U.S citizen was attacked and robbed Sunday night in the center of the Russian capital, a police source said Monday.
The source said that two unidentified individuals had assaulted a U.S. citizen near the Komsomolskaya Square, beat him up and stole his bag.
According to the police, the American had 100,000 euros, a video camera, a cell phone and ID papers in the bag. The overall value of stolen possessions is estimated at 3,5 million rubles (about $130,000).
The victim has been hospitalized and the police have launched a criminal investigation into the assault.
