* At the $18.2-mln Roland Garros Grand Slam series tennis tournament in Paris, France (ended June 11):

Women's singles:

- No.8-seed Svetlana Kuznetsova failed to win the title, losing to defending champion and fifth-seeded Justine Henin-Hardenne (Belgium) 4-6, 4-6 in the final

Mixed doubles:

- No.7-seed pair Yelena Likhovtseva and Daniel Nestor (Canada) lost the final to eighth-seeded duo Katarina Srebotnik (Slovenia) and Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia and Montenegro) 3-6, 4-6

Girls' doubles:

- No.3-seed pair Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Sharon Fichman (Canada) won the title by defeating top-seed Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland) and Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark) 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 in the final

Girl's singles:

- Top seed Pavlyuchenkova failed to win her second title at the tournament losing to No.2 Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland) 4-6, 1-6 in the final

Boys' doubles:

- Artur Chernov and Valery Rudnev finished second, losing to Emiliano Massa (Argentina) and Kei Nishikori (Japan) 6-2, 1-6, 2-6

* Svetlana Kuznetsova moved up one place to No. 2 in the WTA Race rankings announced by the WTA, the governing body of women's professional tennis. Four other Russians are ranked in the top 10: Nadezhda Petrova (4), Maria Sharapova (6), Yelena Dementyeva (8), and Dinara Safina (10)

* Russia's national rugby team beat Romania 25-24 in its last match in the European Nations Cup six-nation tournament.

Division 1 final standings:

1. Romania - 26 points

5. Czech Republic - 16

* Russia's national rugby team will play the host nation June 13 in the inaugural match of the IRB Nations Cup in Portugal through June 24. Russia will also face Argentina June 18, and Italy June 24 in its remaining matches of the round-robin tournament

* Gulfiya Khanafeyeva has established a new world record in the women's hammer throw at the Russian athletics championships, held in the city of Tula, by a 77.26-meter throw, 20 cm longer than the previous record of her compatriot Tayana Lysenko
