MOSCOW, June 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and Italy have similar approaches to the Middle East peace process, President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.
"Our approaches to Middle East settlement are almost identical," Putin told a news conference after talks with Italy's new prime minister, Romano Prodi.
Prodi said that both he and Putin had raised concerns over the latest surge of violence in the Middle East and that there was still a long way to go before their vision of a peaceful settlement for the troubled region could be translated into reality.
