* At the Znamensky Brothers Memorial track and field tournament in Moscow Region:

- Russia's Tatyana Lysenko set a world record in women's hammer throw, at 77.41 meters

- Russia's Yulia Guschina won the women's 100 meters

- Russia's Yury Borzakovsky won the men's 800 meters

* Russia's Dinara Safina lost in the final of the $175,000 WTA Ordina Open tennis tournament in Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, to Michaella Krajicek from the Netherlands 3-6, 4-6

* Russia's Anastasia Myskina lost in the final of the $600,000 Hastings Direct International Championships tennis tournament in Eastbourne, U.K., to Belgium's Justine Henin-Hardenne 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5)

* Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova was ranked 6th in the WTA Tour Race rankings announced Monday by the WTA, the governing body of women's professional tennis, a fall of four positions against last week's ratings. Three more Russian tennis players were included in the WTA top ten: Maria Sharapova (4), Nadezhda Petrova (5), Yelena Dementyeva (8)

* Dutch coach Dick Advocaat signed a contract to become head coach of Zenit St. Petersburg soccer club.
