MOSCOW, July 2 (RIA Novosti) - Russia intends to offer a summit of the G-8 group of industrialized nations a roadmap of the energy sector's development, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko said Sunday.
The Group of Eight industrialized nations will hold its summit in St. Petersburg on July 15-17.
"For us, it was very important to prepare a strategy of energy security, if you like. It is important for all of us to try to see how to ensure the growing demand for energy products in a long-term perspective," Yakovenko told Russia's 24-hour news channel Vesti.
Yakovenko said various aspects of energy security had been discussed comprehensively, including environmental issues.
"Therefore, this issue is a roadmap in the field of the energy sector's development," Yakovenko said.
