Both caches were found in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, the ministry said.
Police found the first cache in the basement of a half-destroyed building in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny. The cache contained six kilograms of plastic explosives, three artillery shells, eight rounds for grenade launchers, two grenades, a grenade launcher, a Kalashnikov automatic rifle and 190 cartridges.
The police found the second cache in the Oktyabrsky district of the Chechen capital. The cache contained two Kalashnikov automatic rifles, two artillery shells, a mine and a round for a grenade launcher.
"The ammunition has been destroyed on the spot. Currently, an investigation has been launched to identify the owners of the arms caches," the ministry said.
