STRELNA (near St. Petersburg), July 17 (RIA Novosti) - Akhmed Zakayev, the emissary of Chechen separatists who currently lives in London, should be extradited to Russia, President Vladimir Putin said.
"There is no need to sift through any archives for this," Putin told a news conference at the end of day two of the G8 summit. "We have the evidence, video footage of his criminal activity."
Putin said some countries had complicated legal systems and many criminal elements embroiled in terrorism used them to "destroy civilized countries and those fundamental principles on which today's civilization of democratic countries is founded."
The president called for this situation to be changed.
