STRELNA, July 16 (RIA Novosti) - Russia has managed to convinced its partners in the Group of Eight that energy security includes the production, transportation and sale of resources, President Vladimir Putin said Sunday on the second day of the G8 summit in St. Petersburg.
"Until recently, energy security was understood as meaning stable energy supplies," he told a news conference at the summit venue. "Now we have convinced our partners that energy security is a far broader notion, including production, transportation and sale on the markets."
Energy security has been one of Russia's three priorities at the three day summit along with education and efforts against infectious diseases.
The leaders of Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Canada will wrap up the three-day event Monday.
