MOSCOW, July 20 (RIA Novosti) - Yukos [RTS: YUKO] confirmed Thursday it had received an offer from Gazprom [RTS: GAZP] to buy the oil company's 20% stake in Gazprom Neft [RTS: SIBN].

The energy giant sent the letter Tuesday after examining a plan for Yukos' financial restructuring, which includes the company's intention to sell the stake in Gazprom Neft.

At the same time, Eduard Rebgun, Yukos' temporary manager, said Rosneft state-run oil company had not applied to him with a similar request.

"No, it [Rosneft] has not applied," Rebgun said.

"As for Gazprom's offer, I also learnt about it from Yukos," Rebgun said. "If they [Yukos] decide to sell their package, they'll submit a contract to me with explanations about why this has to be done."

Gazprom bought a 72.66% stake in the former Sibneft from Roman Abramovich's investment vehicle, Millhouse Capital, in September last year for $13.1 billion. Combined with 3.016% of the company's shares the energy giant had earlier purchased from Gazprombank, it currently owns 75.679% of Gazprom Neft.

Speaking about today's resignation of Yukos chief executive Steven Theede, Rebgun said the temporary manager would work with "the person who will be appointed."

Theede, 54, previously with U.S. oil major ConocoPhillips, was supposed to present a plan for the company's financial restructuring via video link-up at a conference with the company's board, but refused to join a process that he said would be attended by people intent on "destroying" what was left of Yukos.
