MOSCOW, July 23 (RIA Novosti) - Active sport exercises do not allow the youth to stay idle, the Russian defense minister said Sunday.
Sergei Ivanov who is also chairman of the Trustee Board of the Russian Basketball Association spoke at the closing ceremony of the Youth Basketball Association Cup.
"This tournament, which has become the association's first project, can be boldly called an event of the year. Moreover, Russian basketball is turning 100 this year," Ivanov said.
Ivanov said such tournaments would now be held regularly and would keep young people from being bored in Russian cities and villages.
