Russia's Svyaz Bank pretax profit up 490% y-o-y in 1H06

MOSCOW, July 27 (RIA Novosti) - Svyaz Bank's pretax profit in January-June 2006 grew 490% on the same period last year to 285 million rubles ($10.6 million), 22% more than for the whole of 2005, the bank said Thursday.

Citing CEO Gennady Meshcheryakov, the bank's press service said assets as of July 1, 2006 aggregated 45.1 billion rubles ($1.7 billion), or up 17% year-on-year.

Funds on clients' accounts, including issued securities, totaled 30.8 billion rubles ($1.14 billion), or 22% more than on January 1, 2006.

The bank's credit portfolio was worth 19 billion rubles ($704 million), up 31% from January 1.

Svyaz Bank was founded in 1991. It is on the Central Bank's list of Russia's 30 largest banks by assets. As of April 2006, its assets were worth 29.6 bln rubles ($1.1 bln), and its equity capital was 3.1 bln rubles ($115 mln).
